Plaistow, NH: Rose Marie (Coleman) MacKinnon, 77 years young and a resident of Plaistow for the past fifty years, died on February 2, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Passumpsic, VT, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rebecca (Irwin) Coleman.
In her early years she was a nurse at Boston State Hospital and moved to NH where she became a stay at home mom of eight children. She devoted much of her time to school functions and Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts for many years.
After raising her children, she went on to many other jobs most recently at Walmart in Plaistow for many years. She was previously employed as a receptionist at Penacook Place Nursing Home in Haverhill, MA.
Rose Marie enjoyed cooking, reading, and knitting. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and enjoyed volunteering her time.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph "Charlie" MacKinnon, and survived by her children, Helen Galard of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Joseph Mackinnon of Fremont, NH, Patricia and George Olsen of Newton, NH, William MacKinnon of Farmington, NH, Donna and Wayne Lacorte of Atkinson, NH, Tracy MacKinnon of Old Orchard Beach, Shawn and Trisha MacKinnon of Hampton, NH, and Kristen and Elmer Norton of Chesterville, ME. She also leaves behind her brother, Arthur Coleman, and sisters, Frances Williams, and Nancy Williams, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. A memorial service will follow at 7:15 p.m. in the funeral home.
