November 2, 1926 — May 1, 2014

Rose (Augello) Carye, 87, of Sandown, NH, formerly of Coconut Creek, FL, East Hampstead, NH, and Chelmsford, MA, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA following a short illness.

Born, raised, and educated in Everett, MA, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Maria (Fiorella) Augello, graduating from Everett High School on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Afterwards, she began training as a nurse in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps and later became a Registered Nurse through the Salem Hospital School of Nursing in Salem, MA.

Continuing with her nursing career and after beginning her family, she joined the staff at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA, eventually retiring many years later as the Maternity Nurse Manager.

In her retirement, she greatly enjoyed volunteering with Lowell General, the Searles Castle in Windham, NH, and with St. Anne's Church, in Hampstead, NH while continuing her formal education, attaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA.

Later in life, Rose decided to relocate to Florida to enjoy the warmer weather and while there, she built new friendships with neighbors and through her volunteer work with Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Boca Raton, FL.

Missing her connections "back home", she decided to return to New Hampshire this past year, resettling in Sandown. She always enjoyed her daily walks, gardening, home decorating, frequent visits to the library, reading, and catching up with friends.

Wife of the late Major Robert J. Carye, US Air Force, Retired, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laura J. and Dr. James Whitlock and their four children, her sons Robert J. Carye, Jr. and his wife Linda, and Ronald W. Carye, and by several very dear, devoted friends.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am at St. Anne's Church, 26 Emerson Ave, Hampstead, NH with burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead, NH.
