Rosalind Dodd

Rosalind Diane Dodd, age 84, known by many as Diane, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 16, 2023 at Los Robles Medical Center. While the decline in her health was sudden, she was able to be surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.

Diane was born to Albert and Josephine Visco on May 9, 1939 in Los Angeles, CA. She was the proud older sister to her brother James “Jimmy” Visco. Diane spent her early years attending Queen of Angels Catholic School until her family moved to Sunland, CA in 1950 where she continued her schooling at Our Lady of Lourdes. For her high school years, Diane attended Villacabrini, until her senior year when she transferred and officially graduated from Verdugo High School. While growing up on her parents’ farm in Sunland, CA; Diane developed a love for horses and the outdoors. She spent her summers camping with her family, playing sports and riding horses. She was a very skilled barrel racer. She had a love for adventure and a competitive streak like no other, but her love for family surpassed everything else. 

Diane met the love of her life, John A. Dodd while mowing her neighbor’s lawn. After a few years of dating, they wedded on June 28, 1958; a memory Diane still recalls as the happiest day of her life. During their marriage, Diane and John resided in Burbank, CA and were blessed with two children. Diane worked as a phone operator and banker for a short time, but always focused on being a homemaker and raising their two children. Throughout their marriage, the love of adventure and competition continued as seen through their various travels, bowling leagues, nights of bingo and card games. Unfortunately, John passed away after 41 years of marriage, but Diane continued to find joy in camping with her son, visiting family, crocheting, teaching her grandchildren how to bake, doing puzzles and challenging anyone to a card game. 

Diane was and always will be known as the woman with a heart of gold. She would do anything for her family. It didn’t matter the time of day or the circumstances, she was always there. This devotion continued until her final days. Throughout her life she continued to radiate joy, positivity and humor in all circumstances. Diane is survived by her two children; her daughter Terry L. (John) McDonald and her son, John R. Dodd; four granddaughters Christie McDonald, Brenda (Kris) Campbell, Sara Kikes and Nicole (Anthony) Hogan; six great-grandsons and one beautiful great-granddaughter. Diane is predeceased by her husband, both her parents and many other loving family members.

Viewing will be held from 3:00pm – 7:00pm on Thursday January 4^th at Forest Lawn Mortuary - Hollywood Hills on the second floor. 

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30pm on Friday January 5^th at Forest Lawn Mortuary - Hollywood Hills at the Chapel on the Hills Church with burial to follow. 

There will be a Celebration of Life Reception held at the Dodd residence. Details to follow.
