Rosalina Vivar Oshiro

September 4, 1938 — April 10, 2016

Rosalina Vivar Oshiro, 77, born on September 4, 1938, in Sampaloc City, Philippines, passed away April 10, 2016. She resided in Las Vegas, Nevada at the time of her passing.

Rosalina, also known as Sally, is survived by her eight children, David, Maria Theresa "Tet", Alexander, Ferdinand Arthur, Christine, Mercurio "Jonjon", Michael Joseph and Diane; 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; her two sisters Virginia "Viring" and Crescencia "Nene"; and her 2nd husband, Brian Oshiro.

Sally is a Bachelor of Science graduate from Far Eastern University (FEU). She taught English at San Sebastian College for several years prior to migrating to Hawaii. In Hawaii, she worked for 13 years at Hawaii's Finance and Hawaii Housing Authority until she retired in 2004. Her passion for music, playing the piano since her childhood years has been one of her many talents. She moved to Los Angeles and eventually Las Vegas to join her children in the mainland.

Sally is a dear friend to so many people. A devoted sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. She has a very pleasant and sweet disposition. A devout Catholic and a member of The Legion Of Mary since her high school days at St. Rita College, Manila Philippines. She started her life as a novice after school hoping to be a nun under the Augustinian Recollect Order. But God has a other plans and she met the father of her 8 children. She would always say "that many are called but few are chosen for religious life" and adds...i was not meant to be "madre de convento" but "madre de familia".

She dedicated her life to her 8 children travelling back and forth to the Philippines where 4 of her children resides as well as here in the USA where the other 4 lives. Sally is an extraordinary woman who has touched so many lives not just her family and friends but others who had a chance to meet her. She truly lived the Christian teaching of "it is what you can give and not what one can get that matters." She puts her children first before herself as well as others. She will be missed but never forgotten.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 10am to 9pm at the main building. Additionally, a prayer service will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016, from 5:30pm to 9pm at the Wee Kirk O' The Heather Chapel.
