Rosalia Ranido-Aquino

September 4, 1944 — January 21, 2021

Rosalia Ranido-Aquino, Sally for friends, and Ninin the name she is lovingly called by family, was born on September 4, 1944. She was the fourth child among the ten daughters of Francisco R. Ranido, Sr. and Regina C. Ranido of Oas Albay, Philippines.

She spent her elementary and secondary schooling at St. Michael Academy in Oas Albay, and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines in 1965.

Shortly after graduation, she was sponsored by the Exchange Visitors Program and joined the staff of the Newark Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey for two years. After passing the Nevada-California Licensure exams for Nursing, she returned to the Philippines and worked at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital until 1972 as the head nurse of the neonatal department.

In that same year, Ninin returned to the United States and was employed at the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. For forty-three years, she worked as a registered nurse in the emergency department, retiring in 2015. She was a passionate and empathic nurse, touching countless lives in her career and beyond.

She was an incredibly devoted daughter and sister, as well as a big advocate in the educational attainment of her younger siblings. It was through her that most of her family was able to migrate and join her in this country of dreams.

Ninin married the love of her life, Arnulfo J. Aquino in May 1991 and spent over two decades lovingly dedicated to one another. Together, they explored the world, enjoyed life, and also delighted in the company of family and friends.

Ninin was a very active member of our hometown organization, OLAUSA (Oasnon Los Angeles USA). She was elected as president for a term. During her presidency and as a member, she sponsored several scholars, helped them attain their college degrees and become professionals in their own right. In her off-duty days, she loved to go shopping and garden. She particularly loved her roses and her orchids. Her time was also filled with reading, traveling, going on pilgrimages, and visiting her sisters.

Ninin passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving sisters, nieces, and nephews. She courageously battled cancer for many years, beyond doctors' expectations. But in the end, God called her to rest with Him. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold on February 4, 2017.

We shall miss our Ninin and cherish her memories forever in our hearts. We love her so dearly. May she rest together with Arnold and our loved ones in the eternal embrace of Our Lord, the Blessed Mother, and the holy angels and saints in the Heavenly Kingdom. Goodbye our dearest Ninin, farewell. Rest in Peace.

To honor Ninin's wishes, the family requests that donations be given to the St. Jude Research Hospital in memory of Ninin Ranido-Aquino.
