It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rosa (Rosie) I. Tapia. She was born on October 13th, 1957, in Calexico, CA. She passed away on April 30th, 2026, while residing in Cathedral City, CA. In her 68 years, she touched many lives with her wisdom, humor, and unwavering spirit of perseverance.
Rosie made a lasting difference in the lives of many through her years of service in the Palm Springs Unified School District and as a Catechism teacher at St. Louis Catholic Church. Driven by kindness, she was passionate about supporting others in many ways. This spirit, which characterized her life, translated into lessons she earnestly imparted to those around her. For many, she will always be remembered as "Ms. Rosie."
Rosie's legacy of humor, perseverance, and compassion will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit, infused with love and resilience.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Rosie Tapia was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, a cherished sister, and a beloved Tia. She is survived by many loving family members, and she leaves behind special friends. In addition, Rosie is remembered by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
As we grieve her absence, we are reminded that Rosie would not want tears to be her final gift to us. She lived with joy, gave with an open heart, and met every challenge with a smile that could light up a room. Her greatest wish would be for those she loved to carry that same light forward. May her memory be a source of comfort, warmth, and enduring inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to know her. Feel free to share any media or stories you had with Rosie throughout her life.
