Roque Antonio Martinez

Roque Martínez was born on January 8, 1943 in Rivas, Nicaragua to Adan and Dolores Martinez. He married the love of his life, Argia, in 1963. They immigrated to the United States less than a year later.


He acquired his strong work ethic at a very young age. He grew up working in the family ice business. Even as a youth, he was mechanically inclined and it didn't take long for him to start working on all types of different engines. He loved airplanes, cars and motorcycles. He even took flying lessons. A mechanic by trade, he was an incredible handyman that could fix just about anything.


His love for his home country never faded and he was able to spend a few years there in the last decade. He enjoyed traveling to Baja California, especially San Felipe in his later years.


Besides working with his hands, he did have a passion for baseball. He even started a team while living in Nicaragua. He was a lifelong Dodger fan and enjoyed watching games on TV with his daughter and son-in-law the last few years.


Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Roque passed on Friday, November 26, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 58 years; son Jose, daughter Veronica and their spouses; his five grandchildren, Joshua, Desiree, Paulina, Talia, and Daniela, along with his only great grandchild, Noah.
