Ronald Wornell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 26, 2025, in Upland, California. Born in Tacoma, Washington, Ron also lived in Glendale, Glendora and Upland. He was 79 years old at the time of his passing.
Ron was a pioneer in Computer Processing, a field to which he dedicated over thirty years of his life. His career took him across the globe, including travels to distant countries like India, where he shared his expertise and passion for technology. In his later years, he became a realtor, embracing this new chapter of his life with the same enthusiasm that had defined his professional journey. When Ron wasn't working, he could be found running marathons, creating jewelry, collecting art, and spending time with his family.
Ron loved making memories with his children, John and David, and with his wife, Kay, who he was married to for 49 years. The bond he shared with Kay was characterized by love, laughter, and a deep connection, enriching both their lives with joy and companionship.
Ron proudly earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the esteemed Claremont Graduate School. This accomplishment, along with his service as a Radio Man III in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, stands as a testament to his dedication and strength. During his time in Vietnam, Ron was exposed to Agent Orange, which affected him for the rest of his life. However, he never let life's disappointments get him down.
Ron’s personality was infectious; he was known for his mischievous sense of humor and his ability to light up any room with a smile and a joke. He had a remarkable gift for making friends effortlessly, and those friendships transformed into family, notably during his time at Atria Del-Rey in Rancho Cucamonga.
Ron is survived by his loving sons, David and John Wornell, his daughter-in-law Katrina Wornell, his niece Kathy Evans, and his granddaughter Mariah Brewer. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay Wornell, and their son, Christopher Wornell.
A funeral service to honor Ron's remarkable life will be held on January 16, 2026, at the Forest Lawn - Covina Hills - Church of our Heritage, located at 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA 91724, starting at 12:00 PM. A graveside blessing will be held immediately after the service.
