Dr. Ronald Alan Weller passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania surrounded by his family. Ron was born on July 14, 1948, in Bowling Green, Ohio. He attended public schools in Lansing, Michigan and Evansville, Indiana and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He completed a Doctor of Medicine degree and residency in psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he met his beloved wife, Elizabeth, to whom he was married for 31 years. Ron practiced psychiatry at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, and the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where we worked until his retirement. Ron was an author of many research articles in psychiatry and was a member of the Society of Biological Psychiatry. A talented writer and thoughtful editor, his advice helped the research of his colleagues to shine.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Boghossian) Weller, parents Lowell and Eloise Weller, sister Donna Weller, and parents-in-law Hagop and Marie Boghossian. He is survived by his son Andrew Weller, his daughter Christine Weller (Tudor Farcas), brother Donald Weller (Deborah), brother-in-law Varoujan Boghossian (Knarig), as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He had a keen sense of humor, was an avid sports fan, and his many interests included collecting fine art and antiques as well as tending to his garden. In his quiet way, Ron left an indelible mark on everyone he touched. He will be sorely missed. Services will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his loving memory to Longwood Gardens https://longwoodgardens.org/support/give-today. A Philadelphia-area celebration of Ron’s life is being planned, and more information will be forthcoming.
