Ronald Simon
July 11, 1944 — March 15,2026
In Loving Memory of Ronald “Ron” Palogan Simon
Born in Isabella, Philippines • July 11, 1944 – March 15, 2026
A Life of Family, and Love
Ronald “Ron” Palogan Simon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in San Dimas, California, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Isabela, Philippines, Ron was the son of Vicente Simon and Prospera Mathias Palogan. He spent his youth in the Philippines, where he graduated from Juan Sumulong High School in Manila. As a young adult, he moved to Hawai‘i, where he attended the University of Hawaii from 1963 to 1966, majoring in electrical engineering. He later graduated with honors from the Electronic Institute of Hawaii.
Ron married his sweetheart, Pacita Simon, in Hawaii on October 13, 1967. His move to California first brought him to Long Beach before he settled in La Puente. For 47 years, Bench Street was his home and the heart of countless family gatherings and celebrations.
Ronald dedicated his career to the electronics industry, beginning with Family TV & Appliances in Honolulu, Hawaii. He went on to work for industry leaders such as Hitachi, General Electric (GE), RCA, JCPenney, Sears, Circuit City, and Best Buy. His accomplishments included management roles and serving as a Senior Service Manager Trainer, where his expertise took him across multiple states.
Beyond his career, Ron was deeply devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He discovered a lifelong love of tennis early on and played every weekend. He also enjoyed casual and team bowling for many years, even achieving a perfect 300 game on occasion. An extremely intelligent and curious man, he enjoyed staying tech-savvy and was an early adopter of innovations such as laptop computers, handheld games, and Atari. He loved reading, especially the LA Times, National Geographic, and Popular Mechanics/Science magazines.
Ron enjoyed crossword puzzles, billiards, swimming, and tinkering with anything that needed fixing. Above all, he cherished time with family, celebrating every occasion. He served as the family historian through videography, often capturing hours of precious memories during gatherings.
Known for his generosity and unwavering support, Ron embodied love, kindness, strength, and compassion. Later in life, he discovered a love for ballroom dancing alongside his wife after becoming an empty nester. In his younger years, he enjoyed road trips to Las Vegas and treasured visits to Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Canada, Mexico, Arizona, and many countries around the world.
In his later years, Ronald could often be found on weekends playing tennis at local courts, scrolling through Facebook, or enjoying games like Solitaire, Sudoku, and Hearts. He attended Sunday Mass at St. Martha’s Church and loved dancing at the senior center with his devoted wife of 58 years, Pacita, surrounded by friends and laughter. A special highlight of his life was visiting Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, fulfilling his dream of seeing Elvis Presley’s home.
He also enjoyed Hawaiian music and simple pleasures like dining at Hometown Buffet, Golden Corral, and Edokko. He adored his grandchildren, always making time to support and care for them. His support was unwavering, and he attended every milestone in their lives.
Above all, Ron was a man of few wants and great generosity. One of his most profound expressions, spoken during a difficult time when his wife became seriously ill, was: “Take care of your mom and give her anything she needs.” When asked what he needed, he would always say, “I’m fine” or “Do what you need to do,” consistently putting others before himself.
Ronald is survived by his children, Ronnie (Andrea Fabiana †) Simon and Monalei (Jeffrey) Lloyd; and his grandchildren, Jazmine Silver, Ronnie Simon Jr., Maria Victoria Simon (†), Jenna Lloyd, and Kelsey Lloyd. He is also survived by his siblings Ciony Castro, George Simon, Joe Simon, Ted Simon, and Marifel Abad, along with many extended relatives and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Aloha Oe, until we meet again!
