Ronald A. Bouchard

March 20, 1926 — February 22, 2014

Ronald A. Bouchard, 87, of Newton, NH and Ft. Pierce, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Exeter Hospital following a long illness. Ron was the son of the late Rena (Cartier) and William Bouchard of Haverhill, Ma.

Ron graduated from local schools and, later in life, was very proud to have obtained his degree in business from Merrimac College. He retired from Western Electric where he was employed as a supervisor for 35 years. Ron was stricken with polio at the age of 16 months, but those who knew him can attest that Ron never let that stand in the way of anything he wanted to accomplish. Ron was an avid sportsman and competitor, a shrewd business man, an accomplished vocalist and a strong-willed and resourceful gentleman. Above all else he was a loving husband, father, and friend never to be forgotten.

Ron shared his life with Sandra (Gruber) of Newton, NH for 39 years. He leaves his children: Ronald "Butch" Bouchard and wife, Susan of Haverhill, Ma., Jason Bouchard and wife, Shannon of Sandown, NH, daughters, Norma Jean Blanchet and husband, Ronald of Haverhill, Ma and Ft. Pierce, Fl, Kathleen "Kate" Lynch of Lawrence, Ma, and Lisa, wife of Daniel Pelosi of Newton, NH. Ron leaves his brother and dearest friend, Paul, of Dover, Delaware and Ft. Pierce, Fl. He was also predeceased by his brother Norman, who died November 2013. Ron leaves in heart and legacy 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding care and treatment provided by the doctors, nurses and allied health professionals at Exeter Hospital, the Palliative Care and Hospice Teams of Rockingham VNA & Hospice , the clergy from St. Michael's Parish in Exeter, NH, Newton Fire and Rescue and Drs. Patrick Barbier of Newburyport and Eduardo Haddad of Riverside Urology in Lawrence, Ma.

In accordance with Ron's wishes, there are no calling hours and burial will be as he requested. A life celebration will be held for family and friends at the family home in Newton in June. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be offered to the New Hampshire Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, One Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110 or to NHSLHA which is a non-profit, professional association and state-level affiliate of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) well known for their work with children with APRAXIA. Their address is PO Box 1538, Concord, NH 03302-1538. Both of these organizations have been outstanding gifts and resources to the Bouchard Family in very recent years. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH.
