On Wednesday, August 23,2023, Romeo Valdez, a loving husband and father of 4 (amazing) kids, passed away peacefully after a long 6-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 82.

He was born in Isabela, Philippines, to Avelino and Amparo Valdez and the 5th out of 11 children. He wanted to pursue Medicine but went on to finish a degree in Accounting at the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. He completed his certificate as a public accountant shortly after.

He worked at the Development Bank of the Philippines for many years but eventually traveled to America in 1986 in search of a better life for his family who eventually joined him in 1992.

Romeo is survived by:

Margie: spouse
Penelope, Anna, Jake (Pura), Kate (Paul): children
Jason, Tyler, Michaela, Cameron, Koa, Flora, Winter: grandchildren

Romeo loved eating his food his own way- from banana and rice combinations to mixing all kinds of “hmm-do-they-really-go-together?” kind of ingredients- a trait his youngest grandchildren inherited. He was mixing all sorts of fruits with his salad way before it became cool and trendy.

Romeo loved playing tennis and basketball, but also enjoyed the quieter games like chess. When he was not playing them , he was watching them. He will most likely enjoy meeting Kobe in heaven.

He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Papa.
