Romeo Garcia Samonte

May 5, 1951 — January 16, 2020

Romeo Garcia Samonte was born on May 5, 1951 in Pasay City, Philippines, the second son of Julian Samonte and Zenaida Samonte. He studied at University of the East and graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He attained his Certified Public Accountant license in 1976. His diligence and perseverance is how he rose from a storekeeper and stock record clerk in 1967 to a Financial Comptroller in 1988 and a Resident Manager at Holiday Inn Manila in 1991.

After leaving Holiday Inn Manila in 1995, he became a business man. As a business man he had a variety of different interests, from opening a restaurant to an auto shop, a laundry service, auto detailing shop, photo shop, distributor of Mobil oil, and a trading company of car accessories. Romeo also became the Rotary Club President of Meycauayan, Bulacan from 2007-2008.

He immigrated to the United States in 2012 to join his wife and daughter in California. As a life-long learner he became interested in medical coding. In 2015 he became a medical coder for Avanti Hospitals. Romeo also began a successful Home Care business in 2018.

He was an avid target shooter with a black belt in karate. He liked to read about magic and hermetic principles. He often played tong-its with his co-workers and friends, where winning two dollars in pennies was fun and exciting. He loved to karaoke and tell jokes that only he could understand. In his spare time, he loved to garden and watch his roses bloom in the front yard and took pride in the fruit trees in his backyard. Romeo was a jack of all trades who took great care in building a beautiful home for his family.

Romeo joined his son, Marc Raymond, and his daughter, Marie Ardeth, on January 16, 2020 at the age of sixty-eight, surrounded by the people that loved him the most: his family. He is survived by his wife Imelda Bacorro-Samonte, daughter Ysabella Juliana, daughter Bernice Diane, son Marc Ronald, daughter Cherryl Anne, son Marc Oliver, and eight grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
