Rolando Medrano, 78, was born on May 17, 1946, in Manila, Philippines, and passed away on December 22, 2024, after battling kidney disease for nearly five years.
Rolando, the son of Manuel Medrano and Maxima Ponce, was the embodiment of dedication and devotion to his family—his wife, Teresita, and daughters, Amelia, Aleli, Ailleen, and Ann Yvette. Rolando’s commitment and love for his wife were the cornerstone of their relationship and family for over 60 years. He was their foundation, serving as a shining example of both a partner and a father, laying the groundwork early in their lives.
He found joy in a good time, sharing his love for music, dancing, and well-cooked meals with his wife and grandchildren. A horse enthusiast and an avid sports fan with an affinity for tennis, he embraced his love for the games, making it a part of his daily life by owning racehorses and staying current with his favorite players. His noble character was unwavering and extended beyond his family. His presence was cherished, and he navigated life with integrity and kindness, always with his wife by his side. The loss of his company will be greatly felt and dearly missed.
Rolando is preceded in death by his wife, Teresita Medrano; his parents, Manuel Medrano and Maxima Ponce; and his siblings, Orlando, Renato, Leonides, and George Medrano. He is survived by his daughters, Amelia, Aleli, Ailleen, and Ann Yvette; and his siblings, Lourdes, Leticia, and Godfrey Medrano.
Visitation to honor Rolando’s memory will take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, and from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Patriot’s Chapel at Forest Lawn Cypress. A Mass of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bellflower, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cypress.
