Sandown, NH: Roger J. Chaisson, 78, of Sandown, NH passed away on October 2, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born, raised, and educated in Lawrence, MA son of the late George and Eva (Laviolette) Chaisson, he attended Lawrence Public Schools. Mr. Chaisson served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Corpus Christi, TX. He served as an aviation and aircraft engine mechanic and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal.
Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, he was employed for Eastern Tag and Label, and later for Avco which became Textron. He was most recently employed at Jackson Lumber in Lawrence, from where he retired in 1993. A former resident of Lawrence and Methuen, MA, Mr. Chaisson moved to Sandown following his retirement.
Mr. Chaisson enjoyed woodworking, painting, and gardening. He also enjoyed listening to country music, especially Jim Reeves. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and his Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Constance (Charest) Chaisson, his daughter, Donna Zakiewicz and her husband Joseph of East Hampstead, his son, Mark Chaisson and his wife Donna of Kingston, his daughter, Nancy Hoyt and her husband William of Kingston, his daughter, Lisa Lapointe and her husband Mark of Pelham, grandchildren, Christine (Zakiewicz) Hurd, Carissa (Chaisson) Dawe and her husband Jeffrey, Jacob Chaisson, Brian Lapointe, and Taylor Lapointe, four sisters, Elaine Charest and her husband Robert of Hampstead, Theresa Garden of Windham, Rita Dion and her husband Paul of Methuen, MA, and Ruth Chaisson of Hampstead, and a brother William Chaisson and his wife Patricia of Lawrence, MA. He also leaves behind his dog and companion, Rocky. He was predeceased by his brothers, Albert Chaisson, John "Jack" Chaisson, and Ray Chaisson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Chaisson's Life Celebration on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the funeral home. The rendering of military honors by the United States Navy will follow.
