Rogelio B. Jaramillo

July 14, 1939 — March 6, 2016

Rogelio "Jammy" Jaramillo, 76, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at his home in Los Angeles, CA after a courageous battle with cancer.
He leaves a wife, Clem, and five children, daughter Jamela and husband Scott; son Jon and wife Regina; son Jerome and wife Rowie, son Julius and wife Moreen; daughter Jessica; grandchildren Robert, Pauline, Camille, Joey, Jaden, Niko, Abby and Jenevieve. He also leaves two brothers, Ausberto and Roque, and was preceded in death by brothers Lito and Noel.
He was born in Manila in 1939 to Attorney Jesus Jaramillo of Ilocos Sur and Cerenia Bunoan of Isabela. Known as Rogie to his family and childhood friends, he grew up and went to school in Baguio City. After high school, he joined the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) where he was given the nickname "Jammy". While at the academy, he participated in cross country training and basketball. He was the Regimental Adjutant (Bow-Wow) of PMA class 1961. Two years later, Jammy earned his wings from the Philippine Air Force and flew for the armed forces until 1969.
While in the Air Force, Jammy met Clem on a blind date set up by friends. Charming and funny, he won her heart right away. They were married for fifty years.
He worked as a corporate pilot for Ayala Corporation and later for Enzo Corporation where he was afforded the opportunity to travel the world four times. In 1986, he retired from flying and went to the United States to join his family who has established residency a couple of years earlier. At the age of 60 Jammy, with some of his PMA friends, decided to participate in a marathon. This began a lifelong passion for running which resulted in the completion of thirty plus marathons in the 14 years that followed.
Jammy will be remembered for his humor and good nature. A person who placed others before himself, he was dearly loved by his family and friends.
He is already missed.
