Rodolfo “Rudy” Rodriguez, a loving husband, devoted father, and passionate educator, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on April 20, 1967, in El Paso, Texas, Rudy’s vibrant spirit and infectious laughter had an unparalleled ability to brighten any room. He leaves behind a profound legacy that will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
For 20 years, Rudy served as the Recreational Director for Casa Maravilla Projects, a role that brought him immense pride and joy. His commitment to fostering success in the lives of the young people he worked with was unwavering. Through his guidance, countless children were inspired to pursue their dreams, many ultimately attending colleges and universities, some becoming remarkable doctors and teachers. Rudy’s impact was not only felt within the walls of Casa Maravilla but rippled throughout the community, where he endeavored to uplift all around him.
As an accomplished musician, Rudy picked up his first guitar at the tender age of 12, a passion that flourished into a lifelong pursuit. He drew inspiration from legendary artists such as Ace Frehley, Yngwie Malmsteen, Ritchie Blackmore, Randy Rhodes, Eddie Van Halen, John Petrucci, and Michael Romeo, as well as classical greats like Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart. His love for music was matched only by his desire to share that passion, dedicating his free time to teaching children how to play the guitar and other instruments.
Rudy was not just a man of music; he was an avid reader and an enthusiastic learner who enjoyed everything from comic books and Stephen King novels to online articles and audiobooks. His zest for knowledge was evident in his education, having earned an A.A. degree from Cal State L.A. University, just a year shy of completing his B.A. One of his proudest accomplishments was performing his musical recital at Cal State L.A. University, as well as self-publishing his first children's book, Papa, What Are Mountains Made Of?
Family was paramount in Rudy’s life. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzy; his cherished children, Sammantha and Johnathan; his brothers, Ruben Jr., Ricardo and Robert; his sisters, Rosaura and Rosemary; his father, Ruben Sr.; his nieces, Jessica, Alegra, Maya and Sister-in-Law, Elena. He adored his role as a grandfather to three beautiful girls: Emma, Gaby, and Jordyn. Each moment spent with them filled his heart with joy and pride.
Rudy was known for his friendly and caring nature, complemented by a beautiful smile that could light up a room. His laughter, contagious and uplifting, will forever echo in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to hear it. Whether it was playing soccer, basketball, football, or softball with friends and family, Rudy embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories. He also cherished quiet moments, enjoying walks with his beloved dog, Raven and family gatherings.
He now joins his mother, Margarita Rodriguez Yepez, his beautiful dogs, Knox and Thor, in eternal rest. The family will honor Rudy’s memory through funeral services with a Vigil on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills; mass service at St. Martha's Catholic Church in La Puente and burial services at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 2:30 PM.
Rudy’s legacy of love, passion, and dedication will endure, wrapping around his family and friends like a warm embrace, inviting them to carry forward the light he shared so generously. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
