Rodolfo S. Mission

Rodolfo "Pong"/"Rudy" Sevilla Mission passed away on January 28, 2021 at Kaiser Southbay hospital, due to complications from COVID-19. In his last moments with his family, his spirit was lively, positive, and every bit the believer in miracles.

Pong was born in Manila, Philippines on October 25, 1956 to Julita and Felicisimo Mission. He graduated high school with honors and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas. It was in college he met his wife, Victoria, who was studying Nursing.

Pong loved playing tennis, singing, dancing, laughing, traveling and watching movies with his wife. He loves attending reunions with his High School and College classmates. Most of his time was spent trying to keep up with his wife in their daily shenanigans, tending to their beautiful home, watching sports, participating in Couples for Christ, and surviving the indomitable task of raising three wonderful women together. Pong is also a cancer survivor, beating it in 2017. He recently retired in October 2020 after serving LAUSD for 16 years.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Victoria Mission, their 3 daughters, Jillian, J'Aimee, and Jourdan, his sister Remedios, son in law, Karlo, grandson, Endo, and (fur) grandson, Jack.

He will be honored on March 15, 2021 at Forest Lawn in Long Beach, California. Services will be led by the family's parish Priest, Father Owen de Souza. The viewing will begin at 1pm and the Service will commence at 2pm, with interment shortly after.
