Roderick E Metz

April 4, 1944 — May 9, 2022

Roderick E. Metz, 78, of Sun Valley, CA, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on May 9, 2022. Rod was born on April 4th, 1944 to Elmer & Georgia Metz in Sydney, OH. He graduated Jackson Center High School in Jackson Center, OH in 1960. He moved to Los Angeles, California with his older sister Betty around 1967/68. In 1975, Rod met the love of his life Rosa at the iconic Shatto Lanes on Vermont Ave in Los Angeles. Rod and Rosa loved to bowl on their Vegas bound league Friday's. They got married June 26th, 1976, and went on to have 2 children, William and Maggie, bickering and loving each other for almost 46 years.

Rod retired and spent his time with his family and friends and squeezing in travel time with Rosa, especially when they needed their "therapy sessions" at the casino. He loved working in the garage and working around the house. He liked passing on his life experiences and knowledge to anyone who would listen. He took pride in being at his grandson's baseball games and loved watching his granddaughter's grow into beautiful young women.

Rod was one of 5 children, born to Elmer & Georgia Metz. His 3 sisters, Betty Jane, Lucille, Evelyn and brother Leo have all previously passed. He is survived by his wife Rosa, son William (wife Bertha), daughter Maggie, and 3 grandchildren Andrea Michelle, William E. and Olyvia Jane and many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the states.

Memorial Service and mass will be held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. Flowers can be sent to Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills for the Memorial Service; addressed to the Metz Family. Thereafter or in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boys Town or Paralyzed Veterans of America charities.
