Sandown, NH: Roberta H. (Blaisdell) Whitehead, 78, died Thursday, November 24, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.

Born in Newton, MA, daughter of the late Robert and Viola (Olson) Blaisdell, she graduated from Arlington High School with the Class of 1951 and attended Simmons College in Boston. She served in the United Sates Air Force from 1953 until 1955.

Mrs. Whitehead was employed as an automobile sales associate at Volvo Village of Newton and Mirak Lincoln-Mercury of Belmont and Arlington, MA, and later as a secretary and receptionist at McLean Hospital in Boston and Sun Industries of Burlington, MA.

A member of Saint Matthew's Church in Sandown, she was an accomplished artist and enjoyed decorative painting and drawing. She also enjoyed baking, playing the piano and listening to classical music.  She was a member of the Association of Decorative Painters.  

She is survived by her husband of twenty-nine years, Ronald G. Whitehead, one son, James Polley and his wife Martha of Reading, MA and stepson, Mark Whitehead of Sandown, a daughter, Bonnie Hendricks and her husband William of Sarasota, Florida, a brother Peter Blaisdell and his wife Diane of Billerica, MA, two sisters, Priscilla Nason of Derry, NH, and Susan Mirak and her husband Edward of Manchester-by-the-Sea, grandchildren, Ryan Whitehead, Cameron Whitehead, and Jarid Polley, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Center Cemetery in Sandown. Donations in Mrs. Whitehead's name may be made to The American Lung Association.
