Robert Lyle West, 71, born on June 26, 1947, in Glendora, California, passed away May 19, 2019. He resided in Glendora, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.

Robert "Bob" West was born in Glendora, California. He went through Glendora schools and graduated from Glendora High School.

Bob then went into the Army, where he was sent to the Vietnam War, he served from 1968-1969. He served in the capacity of bridge builder. During his enlistment he achieved the honors of : National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He received an honorable discharge, as an E4, in September of 1969.

In the following years he was mainly self employed with a variety of trades from commercial fisherman, construction worker, auto body work, auto repair work and a plethora of other "jack of all trades" jobs.

Bob was an avid supporter of the desert and mountain communities. He loved camping, 4 wheeling, rock climbing, and just generally being out in God's country! His church was the mountains to the sea, wherever he could be outside and having fun with DJ, his dog.

On any given day when you would ask Bob, hey how are ya? He would always respond "just peachy and you? He was always "okkie dokkie I reckon"!! Bob loved to travel the country in his cab over. Always searching for the next adventure. He was the race coordinator for Rt. 66 racing and loved his time with the team and mentoring the boys in all capacities of the off road community. The kids sure learned what a hoodakai was!! Bob enjoyed racing but his first love was 4 wheeling and camping in the desert.

From teaching them defensive driving to how to care for land and to tread lightly, and if you pack it in you pack it out.

Bob volunteered in different capacities with Rescue 3 doing radio relay from the top of a mountain to rescue somewhere in Baja, Mexico. This would take them from the California deserts to Mexico. Bob was also a volunteer for the wild land fire community as well. Driving transports and dozers.

Bob's family has long ties with Glendora. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert West, his mother Elizabeth West, his step mother Blanche West, and his brother Gregory.

Bob's final resting place will be Riverside National Cemetery, in Riverside, California

Bob you will be missed, your love and infectious laugh, will take us through all of our future adventures!!!
