Robert Paul Sobo

October 6, 1954 — May 26, 2018

Robert Paul Sobo, born October 6, 1954, in Los Angeles, was surrounded by his loving family as he peacefully went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2018, due to complications from Parkinson's.
Bob worked for many years as a production assistant for Bob Gaudio - Frankie Valli Productions. He was also an immensely talented guitarist and songwriter who used his gifts to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Being born of Jewish heritage, he came to a saving faith in Christ in his 20s and was ordained a pastor by the Southern Baptist Association. As the worship director and pastor for Harvest Church in Palmdale, California, and as a pastor for the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission, Robert led countless others to the understanding and belief that Jesus is the Messiah in whom their hope is found. His Mensa brilliance, quick-witted humor, love of life and music, generosity and care towards all he met, and his room-lighting smile all were with him until the very end, and will never be forgotten.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Albert, and is survived by his sweetheart of 14 years, Sandy Howell, his sons Aaron and Craig, daughter Julia, granddaughter Samantha, former spouse and mother of his children Sandra, his mother Esther (Terry), and his sisters Morley, Jane and Amy. Deepest thanks to our new brother Marcelo who became family as he cared for Bob as only family would.
A Memorial Service including some of Bob's amazing music will be held in his honor at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Living Oaks Church, 1033 Business Center Circle, Newbury Park, CA 91320. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his home church, "Living Oaks Church," with designation "Sobo Memorial - Music Ministry." The church will also forward a portion of your donation to Parkinson's research.
