Robert John Raab

June 30, 1925 — November 30, 2013

Robert John Raab, Sr. died after a brief illness on November 30, 2013, at the age of 88. Robert was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on June 30, 1925, to the late John Joseph Raab and Anna Andraschko Raab. He was one of five children.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Margaret Raab, his son Michael Scott Raab, Sr., his brother James Raab, and his sister Betty Korsmeier. He is survived by his son, Robert John Raab, Jr., and his seven grandchildren: Brian, Meghan, Colleen, Sophia, and Jason (Robert), and Candice and Michael Jr. (Michael Sr.). He is also survived by his sisters Germaine of Wisconsin and Helen of California.
Robert entered the Navy before finishing high school and proudly served during World War II from 1943-1952 as an Aviation Mechanic First Class. He finished high school while in the Navy, and later graduated from the Bryant & Stratton Business School of Boston, MA.
Robert met the love of his life, Frances, while on leave in Boston, and they were married on July 27, 1947. They left Boston in 1954 and traveled to California living in Los Angeles, La Puente, Hacienda Heights, and eventually Pasadena. Robert spent his last years living with his son Robert in Westlake Village.
Robert spent his career working in aviation, beginning in the Navy as an Aviation Mechanic and ending as a Director of Administration at the Menasco Motors Company. He also worked at Aerojet.
We will sorely miss his "zest for life" and his loving spirit. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, in Faith Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, followed by burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to the Ronald Reagan Library.
