Robert Quiel, a beloved father, grandfather, and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, at the age of 91 in Bermuda Dunes, California.
Born on September 17, 1932, in Mankato, Minnesota, Robert was the youngest and last living of six brothers, born to Nora Milledge Quiel, who as a single mother, moved the family from Minnesota to San Bernardino County in 1933.

Robert had a distinguished career in the United States Navy and later received his Bachelor’s degree from San Jose State. He married Claire Curran and together they had two children, Michael Quiel, and Julie Quiel-Morin. In 1968, Robert relocated his family to Spokane, Washington, where he was known for his unwavering support and dedication to his loved ones.
Throughout his professional life, Robert excelled in various fields. He was a top producer, selling life insurance for Bankers Life of Nebraska, before transitioning to the securities business in the late 1970s. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own his own brokerage firm and take several companies public. In 1994, Robert moved to Palm Desert to be closer to his brother, Gordon. He found joy and camaraderie as a member of the Bermuda Dunes Golf community, where he regularly enjoyed playing golf with his brother.
Robert will be deeply missed by his two children, Michael, Julie, and his seven grandchildren, Kristin, Kelsey, Kourtney, Colin, Alex, Bradley, and Paige. He will be remembered as a happy and respected man.
Rest in peace, Robert. Your legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to family and community will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
