Robert Dzintars Menke

Newton, NH: Robert Dzintars Menke, 77, a resident of Newton for the past forty years, died on July 22, 2014 at Merrimack Valley Hospital after being stricken at home.

Born in Latvia, son of the late Vilis and Milda (Kegis) Menke, Mr. Menke immigrated to the United States in 1950 and settled in Brookline, MA before moving to Newton, NH in 1971. Before coming to the United States, Mr. Menke attended school in Germany. He graduated from Brookline High School and went on to receive a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Boston University.

Mr. Menke worked as a certified industrial hygienist for Duracell and later for Gillette Company, from where he retired.

A member of the Industrial Hygienists Association, he was a world traveler and enjoyed speed skating, swimming, beekeeping, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Baiba (Immurs) Menke, a son and daughter-in-law, Martin J. and Heather Menke, a grandson Andrew R. Menke, all of Hampton, NH, and a brother, Juris Menke of Brookline, MA.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 2 to 3:45 p.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH.
