Robert A. Laakso

April 14, 1931 — February 17, 2015

Robert A. Laakso, 83, born on April 14, 1931, in Duluth, Minnesota, passed away February 17, 2015. He resided in Fullerton, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California. Robert is of Finnish descent. His mother and father were both born in Helsinki, Finland. Robert is survived by his twin daughters, Robyn and Lisa; and five grandchildren, Taylor, Traci, Megan, Matthew, and Michael. Before moving to Orange County, Robert lived a quiet life in Hemet, CA and enjoyed his weekly Bingo games with friends. Robert lived independently with his beloved Chihuahua, Buddy until May 2013 when he took a bad fall and fractured his back. After the fall he was moved into a semi private room in a nursing home facility in Fullerton, CA to be closer to his daughters. His family visited daily with food, treats, a beer once in a while, and even Buddy was a regular visitor as well. He had physical therapy but never fully recovered from the fall. He made many friends with the nursing staff and they loved and respected him; often calling him "Papa." Robert loved sports; especially football. The Minnesota Vikings was his favorite team. You would always find a sports game or CNN news playing on the television. Robert's greatest accomplishment was his family. Robert's older brother passed away years before him but he tried to continue a close relationship with his seven nieces and nephews. He always had a loving relationship with his daughters. They were known as the "Three Muskateers." He was a hard working, loving man. He believed in God and had a strong faith. God has called him home to be with him now, but he will never be far from our memories; and always in our hearts.
