It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert "Bob" J. Kerchman announces his passing on July 7, 2012. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a true friend. Bob was born October 19, 1923 in New York City, and was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Mamie Kerchman, his brother Herman "Hank" Kerchman, and his sister Irene Fallows. Bob proudly served his country in the Air Force during WWII. Bob touched many lives and for years was greatly involved with the Palm Springs Shrine Club (past President) and supported the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Bob and his wife Ann, along with their son Roger, opened Robann's Jewelers in 1974. The store was in its original location on Palm Canyon Drive for 30 years and in 2005 moved to its present location at The River in Rancho Mirage. Roger continues to operate the store along with his daughter Taylor. Bob was gifted with magical hands and could build or repair almost anything. Bob had a fascination with miniature trains and built a magnificent display replicating Palm Canyon Drive and featuring a diamond mine that incorporated one of the show windows in their original store in Palm Springs. After the passing of his wife Ann, Bob met and married Nancy Stevens. They traveled extensively for many years until the passing of Nancy last October. The family wishes to thank Odyssey Hospice and the wonderful care provided by Brentwood Home Health Care, as well as Dr. Thomas Reynolds and Dr. John Faulkner. Bob is survived by his two sons Jerry and Roger; daughter-in-law Judy; stepsons Tom and Chad Fleener; his granddaughters Taylor Kerchman and Lowell Elg; grandson Michael, along with four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or Odyssey Hospice. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012 , 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn in Cathedral City, Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. There will be a celebration of life following the service at Bob's home in Indian Wells.
