Robert Irving James

Robert Irving James, 82, born on February 24, 1930, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away February 10, 2013. He resided in Long Beach, California at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Bob was the fourth child in a family of seven boys and three girls. He grew up on a small ranch in Five Points, New Mexico. His upbringing created in him unwavering values of hard-work, honesty, integrity and service.

He served for nearly five years in the Navy Reserves. After a period working as a house painter, he embarked on a vibrant career as an insurance adjuster. By the time he retired, he had become a household name in his industry.

During retirement, he focused on quiet activities such as painting, fishing, and any excuse to be outdoors. In addition to producing dozens of detailed pencil sketches and oil paintings, he kept busy alongside his wife Pauline growing bushels of food for local charities. Plus, he loved to travel and camp in his RV. He was particularly fond of the Southwest which heavily influenced his art.

Services took place at Forest Lawn, Long Beach, California.
