Robert Melvin Ehrlich, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend was born on September 3, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts and passed away February 5, 2017. He resided in Valley Village, California at the time of his passing. Bob is survived by his wife Christine, sister Geraldine Thompson and her husband Michael, children Leslie Strickland and husband David Janssen, David Ehrlich and wife Marla, and Jason Ehrlich and wife Carrie, step-children Daniel and Raejean Luce, Jean Finley and her partner Dan Michaud, as well as grandchildren Joseph Ehrlich, Matthew Ehrlich, Daniel Ehrlich, Kenny Strickland, and Lindsay Strickland, step-grandchildren Zachary Juarez and Madeline Juarez, Erin Salisbury, Patrick Finley, Casey Bullock, Mallory Finely, great grandchildren Camryn Salisbury, Lauren Salisbury in addition to nieces Andrea Zollman and her husband Sam, and Debbie Rinio.
Bob grew up in Boston, MA and Anson, ME where he helped in the family grocery business and learned to love the outdoors. He went to school at Madison High school where he played on the undefeated 1948 football team. Bob then attended the University of Maine graduating with a bachelors degree in zoology in 1953 after which he served in the Army for eight years earning the rank of Captain. After leaving the Army he attended Northeastern University earning a masters degree in chemistry. Bob then went to work for General Foods for 29 years as a food chemist after which he worked for Anaheim Citrus Products as the Director of Research. He enjoyed traveling and visited many countries during his career. He held seven patents related to food technology including the gelatin formulation used in Jell-O and other products. He retired but continued to travel and lecture as a consultant around the world.
Bob was married to Patricia Stewart in 1961 until her passing in 2000. Bob married Christine Dyer in 2004. Bob and Christine traveled and lived in both Skowhegan, Maine and Valley Village, California for twelve years, enjoying the best of the seasons on each coast.
