Robert Nathan Darby

May 3, 1931 — November 26, 2018

Robert Nathan Darby, Sr. was born on May 3, 1931 and passed away suddenly on November 26, 2018. Bob was a resident of Indio, CA for the last 12 years, moving to the desert from Oregon where he was born and spent most of his life.

Bob was a father, dog lover, builder, real estate agent, fisherman, computer geek and photographer. He was a graduate of the University of a California, Berkeley, in Engineering where he played Cal football as a running back. Bob served our country in the US Naval Reserve. He remained active most of his life, riding his bike, sometimes 100 miles a day, well into his sixties. He never retired after he left the building design and construction industry, staying busy as a real estate broker and photographer, as well as building websites for his friends and family.

Bob was known for his practical jokes and his corny "play on words" humor which always brought groans around the Thanksgiving dinner table including this last one. We will miss the laughter and kindness he brought to our lives, and the world is a little quieter without him.

Bob is survived by his long-term companion Carol Glasgow of Indio, his sons Mark and Rob Darby, his sister Jean Downes, his step-children Stacy Lofgren and Brian Lofgren, his grandchildren Julian Darby, Ethan Darby, Kelsey Johnson, Jamie Johnson, and great-grandson James Johnson, as well as his "grand-dog" Winston. He was preceded in death by Susan Jayne Darby.

Services will be held Sunday, December 2nd at noon, Forest Lawn Cemetary, 69-855 E. Ramon Rd., Cathedral City, CA. 92234.

The family asks that donations be made to your local SPCA in lieu of flowers.
