Hampstead, NH: Robert J. Culligan, 89, of Londonderry and a former resident of Hampstead for over fifty years, died Monday morning, October 3, 2016 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.

Born in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Joseph H. and Augusta (Melanson) Culligan, he attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1945. He served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Employed in the local shoe industry for all of his life, he last worked as a skiver at the Louran Shoe Co. of Haverhill.

An artist and member of the Greater Haverhill Arts Association, he enjoyed exhibiting his work in local art shows. He also enjoyed boating near his home on Sunset Lake, camping, motorcycling, trips to Florida, and taking part in local cruise nights with his 1970 Dodge Challenger.

Predeceased by his loving wife Lillian (Sargent) Culligan, and his brother George Culligan, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his twin brother, Raymond F. Culligan, of Danville, a niece Barbie Sargent of East Hampstead, three nephews, Joseph Culligan and his wife Claire of Danville, Kurt Culligan and his wife Susan of Brentwood, and Kevin Culligan of Danville as well as several nieces and nephews across the country.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main Street Plaistow, NH. His graveside service with military honors will follow at 10:30 in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill. The family requests that memorial donations be made to The MSPCA Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA or the Greater Haverhill Art Association.
