Rita J. (wholley) Tingle

Lawrence, MA: Rita J. (Wholley) Tingle, 96, a resident of Lawrence for most of her life, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Baker-Katz Nursing Home in Haverhill.

Born, raised, and educated in Lawrence daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (McGlennon) Wholley, she graduated from Lawrence High School and was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in South Lawrence.

She was employed as a tax examiner by the Internal Revenue Service and retired from the IRS Center in Wilmington. An avid reader and published short story writer, she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing cards.

The widow of Thomas C. Tingle, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas H. and Marian Tingle of Plaistow, NH, a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Richard Leaping of Quincy, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, at the funeral home. A private family burial service will be held in Holy Angels Cemetery.
