Bradford, MA: Rita B. (Fiorentini) Thuotte, 86, a lifelong resident of Haverhill and Bradford, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, daughter of the late Augusto and Angelina (Cipolla) Fiorentini, she graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1946 and went on to graduate from Bridgewater State Teachers College in 1950.
Mrs. Thuotte worked as a fifth and sixth grade teacher at Nettle School in Haverhill for over thirty years before her retirement in 1990. Following her retirement from the Haverhill School System, Mrs. Thuotte continued her career in education by tutoring adults working toward attaining their G.E.D at the Haverhill Public Library.
A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph's Parish, she was also a member of N.E.A and M.T.A. She enjoyed traveling around the United States and especially enjoyed trips to Palm Beach, FL. An avid sports fan, Mrs. Thuotte frequently attended the Orange Bowl Game and Parade in Miami. She also enjoyed knitting and especially for children in need in the Haverhill School System.
Mrs. Thuotte was predeceased by her husband, Warren E. Thuotte, who was a retired Superintendent of Schools in Haverhill for many years. She is survived by her three sons, Robert W. Thuotte and his wife Julia Barnard of Ipswich, Michael R. Thuotte and his wife Rosemary of Bradford, and Richard P. Thuotte of Wallingford, CT, nine grandchildren, Katie Thuotte, Jamie Melusky, Eric Thuotte, Evan Thuotte, Tyler Thuotte, Alissa Thuotte, Ross Thuotte, Samantha Thuotte, and Travis Thuotte, one grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Joan Thuotte, her brothers, Francis, John, and Henry Fiorentini, and her sister Mary Breault.
There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 10 a.m. at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may to made to the Warren Thuotte Scholarship Fund, c/o Haverhill High School, 137 Monument Street, Haverhill, MA 01832.
