Ricky Joseph Castro Torres

Our beloved RJ, also known as Ricky to many of his friends, was truly one of a kind. Our firstborn and only son, he came into the world on March 21, 1992. On Monday, February 9, 2026, God called RJ home. He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

As the older brother to his sisters, Jayzel Marie and Emma June, RJ carried a quiet strength and gentle presence that will forever live in our hearts. He was a wonderful son — loving, respectful, and incredibly humble. He never complained, never sought attention, and never needed recognition to shine.

RJ was sweet, funny, and caring, with the biggest heart. He gave the best hugs — the kind that made you feel safe and understood without a single word. He was a quiet observer, someone who took everything in with thoughtful eyes and a calm spirit.

He loved deeply. He loved being a big brother, even if that meant playfully annoying his sisters just to hear them laugh. RJ was a loyal friend to many and touched more lives than he probably ever realized.

He had a love for life’s simple joys — good food and a big appetite to go with it, trying new flavors, and cooking amazing meals of his own. He was an awesome cook, a gamer, and had a passion for kendama and anime. RJ found freedom on his skateboard and inline skates, and he loved music, cars, and spending time raving with friends.

RJ was smart and responsible. He was a good driver who made it a point never to text while driving. He stayed out of trouble — at least as far as we knew — and carried himself with quiet integrity.

He had the kindest soul, the clearest skin, the warmest smile, and a presence that made people feel comfortable. He didn’t need to be the loudest in the room to be felt — his energy spoke for itself.

RJ was deeply loved, and he loved deeply in return. As a son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, he gave us more than we could have ever asked for. His memory will live on in every hug, every shared meal, every laugh, and every song that reminds us of him.

RJ is survived by his mother & father, Josie & Steven; his younger sisters, Jayzel Marie & Emma June; his aunt & uncle, Christie & Edward McClaurin, cousins - Nicolle, Kalysta & Addysin; aunt & uncle, Ailyn & Tony Smith, cousins - Christopher, JR, DJ, Angelina & Elijah. 

He will be profoundly missed, and our hearts will carry him forever
