Rick Graham Leininger, born on March 29, 1943, in Vallejo, California, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, in La Quinta, California. He lived a life marked by dedication, integrity, and love for his family.
Having earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration “cum laude” from California State University, Long Beach, in 1974, Rick demonstrated a commitment to excellence early in his career. Following this, he achieved his Certified Public Accountant Certificate in January of 1976. He worked in private practice until taking a position as an in-house Accountant with Jellco Container in Anaheim, California, where he continued to apply his expertise until his retirement in December 2021.
Rick proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966, contributing to significant historical events while working on the flight decks of the U.S.S. Essex and the U.S.S. Yorktown. He was decorated for his service during crucial times, including the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Blockade, earning medals for Vietnam along with the Bronze Star. Following his active service, he continued to serve in the Naval Reserve until his discharge in 1973, embodying the spirit of a proud veteran throughout his life.
He cherished family gatherings, often finding joy in the company of his loved ones. Known for his straightforward manner and generous spirit, Rick was kind-hearted and welcoming. He had a passion for drag racing alongside his sons within the National Hot Rod Association and the American Nostalgia Racing Association. Additionally, he enjoyed collecting coins and had a deep appreciation for reading.
Rick is survived by his son, Rick Joseph Leininger; daughter, Gloria Jean Russell; son-in-law, Louis Dean Russell; son, Robert William Leininger; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Leininger; son, Dallas Lee Leininger; daughter-in-law, Jessica Leininger; grandson, Alix Leininger; granddaughter, Macy Jo Mobayed; granddaughter, Sarah Leininger; and grandsons, Ryan Leininger and Ricky Leininger. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Minshew; sister, Jan Bellah; brother-in-law, Steve Bellah; brother, Mark Leininger; sister-in-law, Deborah Leininger; sister, Victoria Tierney; and brother-in-law, Rob Hicks.
Rick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rozella Leininger; his mother, Gloria Anne Graham; and his father, Charles William Leininger.
A graveside service to honor Rick’s life will be held on December 13, 2025, at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, California, beginning at 12:00 PM. He will be remembered as a remarkable individual whose legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
