Rick Diaz Knapp

November 16, 1967 — April 25, 2013

Rick Diaz Knapp was born on November the 16th, 1967; the fifth of seven children to Annabella Knapp and William Agaza. His brothers and sisters were Paulette Agaza Marcelo, Robert Benjamin Agaza, Alma Agaza Parto, Carolyn Agaza Gilmore, Charity Knapp Hart, and Stan Rommel Agaza. In 1977, at the age of nine, he moved from Caloocan City, Philippines to America and was raised for the remainder of his childhood in Lancaster by his stepfather James Knapp, who has unfortunately passed. Following his graduation from Antelope Valley High, Rick joined the military in 1985 so that he might serve his country with honor.

Rick was wed to Jojie Castillo in September of 1991 with whom he had three children. He served his city for ten years as a member of the Fire Department. During his tenure, he reveled in the things that gave him joy, which included sports as well as travelling and automotive work – He enjoyed bowling and playing baseball, both of which he exhibited great skill in. Some of his favorite sports teams were the San Francisco 49ers and the Patriots; however, his passion for sports was so great that he cheered for many other teams as well. Though he loved these things, above all, his love was for his family. He always had a joke to tell and he is recalled as a great, relatable man. He was seen as a figure of authority, but he was also a friend. He was also a very crafty, intelligent man and was always willing to lend a hand. But, like all of us, he was a person trying to do right in the world.

On the 25th of April, Rick was taken from us so that he might pass through those pearly gates and rest in paradise. Jojie-Castillo Knapp, two daughters, Lindsay Ann, Ricki Leanne, and a son, Richard Carlo II, survive Rick. His parents, his four sisters, and his two brothers also survive him. He is well loved by the Castillo-Orca family and will forever be cherished.
