Atkinson, NH: Richard Paul Talbot, age 79, of Atkinson and a former resident of Needham, MA for twenty-five years died on March 4, 2015 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Richard was born in Quincy, MA and was the son of Albert and Elinor (Comeau) Talbot. He graduated from Northeastern University with degrees in Engineering and Business and retired from the Polaroid Corporation.
He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Richard was a member of the Atkinson Veteran's Club.
Richard had many hobbies and interests. He was a bicycle racer and competed in the Nationals in 1978. He was a member of the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Wheelmen, riding an original 1887 Columbia high wheel bicycle.
Richard also built his own frameset, which he documented in his book, Designing and Building Your Own Frameset, which was published in 1979 and 1984. He flew gliders and private aircraft and was a certified flight instructor. Richard also built and flew model airplanes.
Richard was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Murphy) Talbot, with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Richard leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Henry Doherty of Acton, MA, his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Donna Talbot of Simsbury, CT, his son, Christopher Talbot of New York, NY, his sister, Cynthia Pedriali of Quincy, MA, his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Coleen Talbot of Chicago, IL, his loving grandchildren, Ryan and Kathryn Doherty, David , Meaghan and Timothy Talbot, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Richard was a loving spouse, father, and grandfather and his memories will stay with us forever.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, March 14, from 2 to 5:15 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Atkinson Cemetery will take place in the spring.
