Plaistow, NH: Richard W. "Rip" Ripley, 82, a resident of Plaistow for fifty-three years, died Friday evening, September 16, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.

Born in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Norman and Priscilla (Metthe) Ripley, he attended Haverhill Public Schools including Haverhill High School and the former Haverhill Trade School where he was member of the varsity football and baseball teams. He served as a Seaman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Waller.

Mr. Ripley was the plant Manager at Suburban Propane Co. for eighteen years and last worked as the bartender at the Carl Davis Post of the American Legion, Plaistow.

A Past Commander of Carl Davis Post # 34 of the American Legion, he was also a longtime member of the Lorraine Post of the VFW of Haverhill. He was an avid fan of both the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, and former member of the American Legion Softball League. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball, building model airplanes, fishing, gardening, yardwork and trips to the beach.

Predeceased by his loving wife Shirley (Pereen) Ripley in 2015, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Richard W. Ripley, Jr and his wife Raquel of Sharon, MA, and Kevin M. Ripley and his friend Kelly Pentedemos, of Plaistow, three daughters, Dawn Marie Ripley, Karen M. Senter and her husband Clint and Sherri A. Coyle and her husband Kevin, all of Plaistow, fourteen grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Ripley's Life Celebration to be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will take place on Thursday at 10a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial with military honors in Plaistow Cemetery.
