Haverhill, MA: Richard P. Paquette, 85, of Haverhill, died June 8, 2015 at Lawrence General Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
A native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, he was the son of the late Charles and Lydia (DeViller) Paquette. He attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1947. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Paquette served honorably as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953.
Employed as a pressman at the Haverhill Gazette, he retired as the pressroom foreman in 1994 after fifty years of service.
Mr. Paquette was a member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish, a member of the Saint Vincent-de-Paul Society for over forty years, and a longtime volunteer for the All Saints Food Pantry. He had also served as former Scout Master for Troop 27 of the Boy Scouts of America.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he cherished the times that he spent with his family. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, baking, cooking, playing cards and a Sunday Drive with any member of his family.
Predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of sixty years, Claire E. (Perreault) Paquette, and his daughter Tracy (Paquette) Greenwood, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard P. "Rick" Paquette, Jr. and Lisa Paquette of Haverhill, a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and William W. Gordon, Jr. of Moultonborough, NH, three grandchildren, Danielle (Paquette) Henry and her husband Nathan of Vassalboro, ME, Alyson (Gordon) Cahoon and her husband Sean of Moultonborough, NH, and William W. Gordon III and his wife Nicole of Groveland, two great granddaughters, Molly and Emma Cahoon, a sister, Almie Lavallee of Atkinson, a grand dog Maddie Mae, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles J. Paquette.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Paquette's Life Celebration on Friday, June 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA. Burial with the rendering of military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill.
