Richard Needham

Richard Needham born on May 27, 1922, in Long Beach, California, passed away February 13, 2013. He resided in Rancho Palos Verdes California at the time of his passing. Dick grew up in San Gabriel and attended Alhambra High School. Always interested in airplanes and flying as a child Dick went on to work at Lockheed Aircraft. With the country at war and a deep desire to fly he enlisted in the Navy and was accepted to Naval flight school. He then went on to serve on the aircraft carrier USS Tulagi in the Pacific theater during WWII and in the reserves until the early sixties. After the war Dick graduated fron the University of Southern California as Mechanical Engineer and went on to a long career in quality assurance testing and safety engineering. Dick married Eleanor Barry ("Barry") in 1948. Daughter Jude Ann was born in 1960 and Son Richard Stewart in 1962. Dick and family resided in West Covina CA until retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife Barry in 1991 and his brother Gale and sister Peggy. Dick is survived by daughter Jude, Son Rick (Cindy), grandchildren Emma, Marisa (Freddie), Megan (Mark), and Ian. In lieu of flowers donations to the Disabled American Veterans would be appreciated.
