Richard H. Hughes, III

Richard "Dick" H. Hughes, III, age 98, was born on October 16, 1924, in Niagra Falls, NY and  passed away on April 30, 2023 due to complications from pneumonia. He passed away peacefully in his West Covina home of 50 years, surrounded by his immediate family. He is preceded in death by his beautiful and caring wife of 43 years, Josephine Hughes. He is survived by Sandra Hughes (Daughter) Rick Hughes (Son) and Catelyn McLeester (Granddaughter) Richard owned several successful automotive repair businesses in the local area. He was a dog lover, expert marksman and avid car collector and driver of Offenhauser Open Wheel Midget Race Cars. He was an active member of the VMRCA and raced vintage tether cars in the city of Whittier every month until the time of his passing. His passion for car racing and competing was truly inspiring. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends and will never be forgotten. Richard will be laid to rest with his wife Josephine (1933 - 2002) and funeral services with be held at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, CA. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 3PM.
