Richard HSmith, 79, born on September 28, 1943, in Elmhurst, IL, United States, passed away February 23, 2023.
He had a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. After graduating from Iowa he moved to Los Angeles in the 1970's to be a writer. His dreams were fulfilled in many ways as he became a professor, teacher, editor, writer, and author. A lifelong student and academic, after retiring in 2010 from his wonderful jobs, he took classes at the local university.
He enjoyed traveling, hiking, reading, art, and cheering on the Chicago bears. He was an active member of his hiking group at Griffith Park and the former President and Program Chair of Textile Museum Associates of Southern California.
He resided in Los Angeles, CA at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, CA.
