Haverhill: Richard H. "Dick" Comeau, 83, a longtime resident of Haverhill, and former resident of Plaistow, died Friday, May 27, 2016 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Born in Haverhill, son of the late Harold and Grace (Paris) Comeau, he attended Saint James Grammar School and was a member of the Saint James High School Class of 1951. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as the Company Bugler and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class and was recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the National defense Service Medal.

Mr. Comeau was first employed at Western Electric Co, but was best known in the area as a business owner and entrepreneur. He established three businesses in the city, Columbia Auto Seat Covers, Northeast Power Machine, and Dick Comeau Century-21 Realty, which he successfully operated at various times from his offices on Emerson Street in Haverhill. He also later worked as a Sales representative for Riverfront Marine.

A resident of Plaistow from 1976 to 1996, Mr. Comeau was also an eight year resident of Portsmouth, NH before returning to Haverhill several years ago.
A licensed pilot, Mr. Comeau co-owned a plane with his late brother Ronald "Ronnie" Comeau, and flew it out of the former Dutton's Airport, Haverhill. He enjoyed boating and was also an avid card player and enjoyed spending time at the Haverhill Citizens Center.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Rose (Smith) Comeau, a daughter, Sherryl D. Comeau, and a son David A. Comeau, all of Haverhill, a brother Robert N. Comeau of North Conway, NH, two sisters, Norma Wildes of Haverhill and Janice Gulubicki, of Atkinson, NH and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Comeau's Life Celebration to be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main ST., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 7:15 and conclude with the rendering of military honors by the U.S.Army.
