Richard John Carter

Richard John Carter, 75, born on January 25, 1942, in South Orange, New Jersey, passed away February 23, 2017. He resided in Glendale, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.

Richard received his BFA from Cornell University before moving to Los Angeles to earn his MBA from UCLA. It was there that he met the absolute love of his life, Maggie, with whom he recently celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary on January 28th, 2017. Together they raised two daughters, Kristen and Beth. Their dad is their first love and their forever hero. Yes, it's true he adored his "California Girls" but he also fell madly in love seven more times as his family expanded to include his seven grandchildren, Dylan, Jack, Tanner, Maysen, Camden, Carter and Holden. How fortunate they are to hold their Papa's tender spirit in their hearts. Papa was a family man to his core. His family was truly the center of his universe.
Dick was a talented and charismatic businessman. His career as a corporate marketing executive saw him leading a meeting with the help of 6-ton elephant, and whizzing down a 115 foot drop at 65 mph during a live television interview while riding Colossus, the "fastest and largest wooden rollercoaster in the west." His integrity was unsurpassed. Always an inspiration and mentor to those he led, Dick brought enthusiasm and creativity to work every single day.
For his huge heart, his kind smile, his listening ears, his words of guidance and even for his love of the Beach Boys and the Godfather he will remain our family treasure.
