Richard E. Bemis

Atkinson, NH: Richard E. Bemis, Jr., 58, of Atkinson, died on April 6, 2014 at his home of natural causes.

Born in Stoneham, MA and raised and educated in Burlington, MA son of Richard and Joan (Rafferty) Bemis, he graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1974. Mr. Bemis worked for Stanley Elevator Company for thirty-four years as a Teacher of Elevator Construction.

Mr. Bemis was a member of I.U.E.C Local 4 and the American Legion in Burlington. An avid golfer, he was a member of Atkinson Country Club and enjoyed working on his home, reading, and landscaping. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Denise Jacquard, his son Andrew Bemis and his partner Jennifer Beaudoin of Penacook, a daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Alex Wilson of Atkinson, his parents, Richard and Joan (Rafferty) Bemis of Burlington, MA, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Anne Marie Bemis of Red Hook, NY, Stephen and Marianne Bemis of Medway, and Mark and Kathleen Bemis of Westford, MA, four sisters, Karen Wyatt of Billerica, MA, Patricia Scrima and her husband Eric of Marlboro, MA, Marilyn Bemis of Concord, MA, and Kathy Jensco and her husband Steven of Dover, NH, two grandchildren, Luna and Tommy Bemis, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Thursday, April 10 at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, NH.
