Rheba West

PALM DESERT - Rheba West, 82, a full time resident of Palm Desert for over 40 years, passed away May 31, 2019 surrounded by her loving friends and family. She was born on September 22,1936 in El Centro, CA. From humble beginnings, being one of 11 children, Rheba married (James) and had 3 children. She began her lifelong career in escrow in 1960 where she met some of her most treasured friends, or as we know them 'members of her family by choice'. Rheba displayed the courage,determination and tenacity that we all admired, when she started her own business, Palm Desert Escrow, INC., in 1978. The same business that she retired from at the young age of 75. In her latter years, Rheba shared an extraordinary love and life with her soul mate, Ronald T. DeBlis. As many knew, Rheba's heart was legendary and her love for her family undying. Rheba is survived by her daughters, Judi Rogers (Jerry) and Janet Moore (Jim), her daughter-in-law- Sherri Van Dorn Fisher (Emil), her 6 grandchildren, Erin, Jimmie, Kristen, Desiree, Casey and Jason and 3 great grandchildren, Sevina, James and Addie Rose, as well as many lifelong friends who filled her world with laughter and happiness. Rheba is preceded in death by her son James Van Dorn and 9 siblings. The family suggests donations to Alzheimer's research. Services will be held at Forest Lawn Chapel, Cathedral City at 10 a.m. on Saturday June 8, 2019 with reception immediately following. Interment is private.
