Reyes Gallegos Medina

Mrs. Reyes Gallegos Medina, 82, was called to her heavenly home on Holy Saturday, March 30, 2024.  She passed surrounded by her loved ones at her residence in Long Beach, CA. Reyes was born on January 6, 1942, and was raised in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico.  

Affectionally called “Abuelita” by her family, Reyes was a devoted widow, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and a friend to many.  She adored her late husband, Mr. Orlando Gallegos, who preceded her in death nearly 50 years ago.   It was her life's mission to ensure that his legacy continued.  Her faith in God gave her the bravery, strength, conviction, and tenacity to persevere through life’s trials.  With a warm and gentle spirit, she put others before herself and was quick to provide help to those in need—from a simple call to a gesture of support.  Her footprint extends through three generations, and how she lived is an inspiration to her family, friends, and those that knew of her. 

Abuelita Reyes was the family matriarch, the eldest of 15 children.  She had many talents and was known for her excellent Mexican cuisine.  She loved to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and all festive occasions with good food, laughter, and dancing.  

Abuelita Reyes had love and concern for all of her family and friends—she was a God-given blessing to us all.  We miss her dearly.
