Regina Jean Scott
August 24, 1929 — January 21, 2025
Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA.
Regina Scott, 95, born on August 24, 1929, in Belfield, ND, United States, passed away peacefully January 21, 2025. At the time of her passing Regina lived in Whittier, CA.
Regina was the youngest of 13 brothers and sisters. They all helped their parents, Ukrainian settlers run the family farm in North Dakota. They grew wheat, corn and potatoes. She liked to ride her horse "Smarty" and go with her dad to collect coal after blasting it with dynamite.
When Reverend Andrew Kist would come to preach at her local church in North Dakota, he got to know Regina and thought she might be a good match for his son Anthony Kist. After their introduction, a courtship ensued, and they were later married and had four children: Greg, Don, Dave and Andrea. Raising her children was the highlight of her life and she excelled at it. Sledding, skating, fishing and picnics were some of the fun we had growing up. Sadly, Greg and our father Tony both passed away too early. However, despite the challenges of being a single mom of three children, she persevered and raised the rest of us, and we turned out well thanks to her faith, love, strength and hard work.
Regina's most profound parenting andvice was to, "Love them even when they are not lovable." She was a hilarious story teller and always kept in touch with family by mail or telephone. We have many videos of her sharing her stories with family and friends.
Regina had several jobs during her life. Federal Cartridge, Honeywell, Pioneer Broach and Los Angeles Schools were the most notable.
After Tony passed, she met Bill Scott. They eventually got married and lived together for many years in Granada Hills California. When Bill passed in 2012 she moved back to La Mirada. She became a devoted member of St Michaels Orthodox in Whittier, California and attended until she received her heavenly reward.
We are grateful to all who have helped her in the last several years. We are blessed our shared memories that honor her significant life. May her memory be eternal.
