Atkinson, NH: Raymond F. Lovely, Jr., 89, of Atkinson, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 in Manchester NH.
Born, raised and educated in the Bradford section of Haverhill, he was the son of the late Raymond and Edith (Hefferan) Lovely, and attended Haverhill High School. He grew up as a member of a well- known athletic family with a long legacy of sports accomplishment both locally and nationally. A veteran of World War II, he served with honor in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1948 and was a recipient of the World War Two Victory Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, The Navy Occupation Medal, the European African Middle East Area Medal with one Battle Star, and the Germany Occupation Medal.
Following his discharge from the service he enjoyed a thirty-nine year career as a sales representative with U.S. Shoe Corporation.
A member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish and the former Holy Angels Parish, he enjoyed playing tennis at Cedardale Health and Athletic Club, playing cards especially 45 with family and friends, boating and traveling and was a fan of all Boston and New England sports teams.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-four years, Mary E (Mylott) Lovely, sons and daughters-in-law, Michael F. Lovely of Hampstead, David J. and Daphne Lovely of London, England, John R. and Mary Lovely of Fremont, daughters and son-in-law, Ellyn Dempsey of Atkinson, and Carol Lovely and Mark Taillon of Danville, a brother Robert Lovely of Salisbury, MD, a sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Wayne Hogan of Bradford, two sisters-in-law, Maureen Lovely and Stephanie Lovely, nine grandchildren, Sarah Dempsey, David Taillon, Bradley Taillon, Patrick Taillon, Nicole Moore, Ann Smith, Emily Lovely, Madison Lovely and Tyler Lovely, two great grandchildren, Meghan Marcotte and Dakota Moore, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Louis Lovely, and Donald Lovely.
Calling hours for family are private. Relative and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, NH. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Atkinson Elder Service, c/o The Town of Atkinson, The Atkinson Food Bank, c/o Atkinson Congregational Church, or To the Atkinson Fire Department.
