Raymond Barba

February 1, 1943 — June 8, 2024

Raymond Barba, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed real estate professional, passed away peacefully at his home in Walnut, California, on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Born on the footsteps of Chavez Ravine, Raymond often boasted that he was "born on 1st base" of Dodger Stadium. He inherited a strong work ethic and self-direction from his parents, Manuel Barba and Emilia Rodriguez Barba, who instilled in him the values of hard work, entrepreneurship, sacrifice, and grit.

A proud Mexican-American, Raymond spent his formative years moving across California as his family pursued agricultural work and established various family-owned businesses. At the age of 21, he returned to Los Angeles and began his career selling pots and pans door-to-door. His natural wit and charm proved instrumental as he found success in sales, a skill that would define his future endeavors.

In his early 20s, Raymond obtained his real estate license and embarked on a remarkable 60-year career in real estate. He joined A.P. Lopez Realty, where his leadership as staff manager earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends. Raymond's dedication and expertise in the field led to a level of success that was not only measured in transactions closed, but in the lasting relationships he cultivated throughout his professional journey.

Always impeccably dressed, Raymond treasured books, art, history, antiques, music and his dogs, with a special affection for his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Amos.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Mercedes Barba, and their four children, Albert, Manuel, Sam, and Mercedes Bianca, as well as his daughter-in-law Danielle. He was a cherished grandfather to Joaquin, Mateo, Luke, McCartney, Morgan and Justin, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Raymond Barba will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, his passion for real estate, and his boundless love for his family. His legacy of hard work, perseverance, and sharp wit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
